More Hardwood

Here's a few pictures of our floors right now.  The flooring guys stayed past midnight last night laying the sealer.  Next week before we move in, they are going to buff, poly, buff, poly.  They look absolutely amazing!

beautiful hardwood :)

The hardwood specialists started sanding today and we finally got to see what was underneath all the paint and other crap on our hardwood.  They look so gorgeous, and they're not even finished yet!  Here's a few pictures.  I'll post some more when they get finished!

I may be a little biased, but I think my house is the most awesome, beautiful house in East Tennessee.

2 more weeks!

Ah, so we're two weeks out.  I'm not sure that it's going to be done, but I'm trying to have faith!  As long as the hardwood is finished and the interior painting is done we can move back in and let all the other stuff happen after we're back in.  So as of now, we're still planning on moving back in at the end of July.  Here's what's been done over the past couple days.

Tile's going into the shower!

The big hole from the chimney got patched today with...

hardwood from the closet.  Our hardwood is original, so obviously it's not sold anywhere nowadays.  Not really sure what's going to go in the closet, but it won't match the rest of the floor.

Still have all this trim to go.  Trim has taken FOREVER because of how unique our house is.  It takes 3 hours to do one window in my house.  It takes 15-30 minutes in a new house...

And, we have a working toilet!  Water got turned back on yesterday at the house and the toilet was put in.

We still have so far to go, but there are a ton of people putting in long hours everyday at the house.  Hopefully trim will be done soon so we can finish floors and paint!  However, I know paint is going to take forever too!

In Memory of Thomas

Yesterday sucked really bad.  Two of our fellow Kiowa pilots were killed in an helicopter accident.  One was Dan Cole, husband and father to two.  The other was Thomas Williams who also happened to be our general contractor for this home remodel.  Thomas LOVED real estate and construction.  Gary and I went through flight school with him, and the whole time we were at Ft Rucker he could not wait to get back home to real estate.  So, it was only natural that when we got home from Ft Rucker that we would hire him to be our general contractor on our house.  I just hate he won't get to see the final product in a few weeks when it's done.

This is a picture I took of Thomas on day 1 of demo, March 14, 2011.

3 weeks left!

Only 3 weeks left till we move back in!  Hardwood refinishing next week, painting the following week.  HVAC and electricity should be turned on tomorrow and the plumber and tile should be sometime next week too.  Here's lots of pictures!

This is the hardwood that was under the carpet in the living room.  The living room was the only room with carpet.  Now all floors will be original hardwood.  Can't wait to see it finished!

Doors are in, and trim is going in.  Still got a long way to go on trim though.

MY KITCHEN!!!  I absolutely love it!  Green quartz contertop with yellow walls.  It will look fabulous!

The other side of the kitchen.  The sink/dishwasher side.

Double oven range and dishwasher are still in the box.  Can't wait to see them too.  I am so excited to have a double oven!

The buffet side of the kitchen and the kitchen pantry!  Can you tell I love my kitchen?!?!

This is the master bath with the new floor and vanity.  The kid's bath has the same flooring and a matching single vanity.

Close up of the master vanity.

Closets in the master bedroom.  I took this photo to show trim again.  Also in the picture is the clawfoot tub which has to be re-finished because it was brought to the project site after refinishing and got destroyed.  The tile for the master shower and kid's shower is in the boxes in the picture.  They should go in early next week.

kitchen

Our kitchen floor went in last week, and the cabinets began today.  Our cabinets should be completely installed tomorrow, or at the latest, Wednesday morning.  The installers were having a hard time hanging our uppers due to the house not being square.  Tomorrow they will put in the lowers and appliances.

The cabinets that were installed today.

Lower cabinets to be installed tomorrow.

From L to R: The pantry, double oven, fridge, dishwasher. :)
